The practice of dentistry is a profession. According to the Australian Association of Professions “A profession is a disciplined group of individuals who adhere to ethical standards and who hold themselves out as, and are accepted by the public as possessing special knowledge and skills in a widely recognised body of learning derived from research, education and training at a high level, and who are prepared to apply this knowledge and exercise these skills in the interest of others”.
Our view as dental professionals is that your teeth are very precious and non-renewable and any dental treatment must be undertaken with this in mind. The “biological cost” is paramount to us and a key consideration in the management of your dental care. Our view is that our patients are more than customers and of course the decision to seek dental treatment is very different from making a retail purchase. Our key philosophy is to support long term oral health of our patients including the ability to maintain any dental work.
